Meet the Author, Lyricist, Composer, Director, Producer, Designer, & Actor
Divorced: The Musical tells the story of my own post-divorce journey. Worldly details have been fictionalized, but the emotional experience is reflected with unflinching honesty.
I create theater for two primary reasons:
First, I create to process my own experiences. To learn and grow through art. The best way for me to recognize one of my patterns is to write a song about it. Then, next time I act it out, I can be like, “Hannah, your doing your song again.”
Then, I create to connect with people on my frequency. I know this musical isn’t for everyone, but I want to reach people who are here for the messy, ugly, gooey work of transformation and self knowledge. I want people to feel emboldened to stop hiding their their imperfections and sing them out to the world! I want to cry with people about our biggest mistakes and darkest shame. And then I want to laugh about it and sing an upbeat, catchy, irreverent song that we make up together.
Let’s take this crazy fucking life and turn it into play, shall we?
